Why is the technology in this beer special?

Probiotics are typically associated with yogurt and other fermented foods, but they are also well known among craft brewers. Certain strains of beneficial bacteria that promote digestive health are likewise employed in the brewing of specific beer styles, particularly those with a sour profile.

While some beers naturally contain probiotics, ensuring a sufficient amount is present in alcoholic beverages remains a significant challenge. The presence of alcohol, strong flavours, and various brewing ingredients can make it difficult for these beneficial microorganisms to survive, making the development of an effective probiotic beer quite challenging.

However, Probicient’s technical team successfully ensured a probiotic survivability of 1 billion CFU—the minimum amount considered effective by the International Scientific Association for Probiotics and Prebiotics (ISAPP)—all while preserving traditional beer brewing methods.
