To craft exceptional beer, you need quality water. Introducing NEWBrew, a distinctive craft beer brewed with NEWater, Singapore’s premier ultra-pure recycled water.
Since 2018, Brewerkz has partnered with PUB, Singapore’s National Water Agency, to create NEWBrew – a beer that showcases how innovation and sustainability can come together in an unexpected way. Over the years, NEWBrew has become a symbol of Singapore’s water story, demonstrating that reclaimed water can be safely used to create a great-tasting craft beer.
In 2026, NEWBrew returns for its fourth appearance at the Singapore International Water Week (SIWW), continuing its role in raising awareness of water sustainability and Singapore’s circular water economy.
Since its inception, NEWBrew has inspired conversations around the world and showcased the potential of sustainable brewing with recycled water, influencing similar initiatives in Germany, Canada and the United States.
NEWATER: BACKBONE OF WATER SUSTAINABILITY
Launched by PUB in 2002, NEWater is Singapore’s third National Tap, providing a weather-resilient and endlessly recyclable water source. Used water undergoes rigorous treatment at PUB’s water reclamation plants, followed by advanced membrane filtration and ultraviolet disinfection at NEWater factories, resulting in ultra-clean, high-grade reclaimed water. NEWater is primarily used for industrial and commercial purposes and, during dry periods, is also blended with reservoir water to supplement Singapore’s drinking water supply.

2026 & 2024 EDITION
In 2024, we unveiled a modern twist on traditional lagers: a Pilsner infused with hints of tangerine and tropical fruits. Featuring 50% less residual sugar than typical lagers, NEWBrew offers a lighter and more refreshing drinking experience that is perfect for Singapore’s climate!
NEWBrew was showcased at the 10th Singapore International Water Week (SIWW) in 2024 and returns once again for SIWW 2026, marking its fourth appearance at Singapore’s flagship global water event.
The graphics across the three can designs highlight PUB’s mission of Supplying Good Water, Reclaiming Used Water, Taming Storm Water and Resisting Rising Seas.

2022 EDITION
In 2022, we introduced a Tropical Blonde Ale crafted with premium German barley malts, aromatic Citra and Calypso hops, and kveik, a highly sought-after Norwegian farmhouse yeast.
The result was a refreshingly quaffable beer with a smooth, toasted honey-like finish, perfectly suited to Singapore’s tropical climate.
The cans featured vibrant artwork showcasing Marine Barrage, MacRitchie Reservoir Park and the Singapore River — three iconic water landmarks that play an important role in Singapore’s water sustainability journey.

2018 EDITION
In 2018, as part of the inaugural NEWBrew launch, we brewed two beers — one using regular water and the other using NEWater. During a blind taste test, participants were challenged to tell them apart, and many were surprised to discover how similar they tasted.
Brewed using 100% NEWater, the beer featured a balanced body, refreshing bitterness and bright hop character, delivering a clean and ultra-crisp finish. The experiment demonstrated that high-quality reclaimed water can be used to brew great beer while supporting a more sustainable future.
